Medical Class 1979 40th class reunion tour of Malacca 23 to 24 November 2019

7 medical classmates (Yong Guan, Boo Chye, Yvonne, Frances, Hui Chuan, Wee Teng, Mee Ling together with 3 spouses) from the medical class of 1974 to 1979 went on an overnight tour of Malacca from 23 to 24 November 2019, immediately after our class 40th reunion dinner held at Chee Chong's house at Sentosa Cove the night before (22 November 2019).

Upon arrival at Hatten Hotel, we were welcomed by another classmate Siew Hian who drove all the way from Penang to meet us at the hotel. She was accompanied by her friend Charmaine. They took us to eat satay celup.

After lunch, we went for a guided tour of the Nonya Museum. However, before the start of the tour scheduled at 4p.m., we went to have durian chendol at the Christine Ee shop.

In the evening, we were surprised and delighted to meet another classmate Soh Beng who was waiting outside the restaurant Nonya Makko. She had cancelled her mission trip to stay back to welcome us to Malacca. She had messaged the class rep Yong Guan to inform him of her plan but had told him to keep it a top secret.

We had a wonderful multiple courses (easily more than 10) Nonya dinner at the restaurant. Soh Beng later took us to the cruise centre but we were not able to take the cruise because of a function. We later went to Jonker Street to walk till 10.30pm before we retried to Hatten Hotel for our well-deserved rest.

The next morning, we had a huge breakfast at the hotel. We left the hotel at around 11.15am on 24 November 2019 to visit St Paul Church at the Red Square area.

We later returned to the hotel at around 1pm to have our late check-out.

From the hotel, we went back to Christine Ee shop for our second round of durian chendol.  We also had chicken rice ball with one whole steamed chicken for lunch.

After lunch, we headed back to Singapore; arriving first at York Hotel and then at Paragon at around 8.45pm.
